Many American companies offer health care insurance as part of the employee benefit package. For many years, the system has worked well, or at least was acceptable, as the cost of medical services rose at modest rates. But over recent years, the cost of US medical services has risen at very high rates, rates far exceeding the annual increase in cost of goods and services published by the US government.  Now, the medical benefits employers offer are being significantly threatened by the high cost of North American medical services.  Medical costs are increasing due to increased costs of technology, uninsured medical care, increased population needing medical care and legislative mandates and tax changes.

Many companies, especially those that are self-insured, and some government agencies may seek to allow international health travel services for their employees.  This could allow American companies to continue to provide affordable medical insurance that covers high-quality medical services as part of their benefit packages.
